TEXTILE

WASTE

Textile pollution is a growing problem in the fashion industry. According to Greenpeace, over 400 billion square yards of textiles are produced each year. About 15% of this fabric, or 60 billion square yards, ends up on the cutting room floor.

The Council for Textile Recycling says that the average American trashes 70 pounds of clothing every year.

Much of this ends up in already overcrowded landfills.

At Inspired-Threads, we take a customer’s t-shirts, jerseys, shorts, sweatshirts, sweatpants, dress shirts, flannels...basically anything that’s made from soft, machine washable fabric...pair it with cutting room scraps from local fashion designers and create one-of-a-kind blankets.

Each custom-made piece is crafted by an inclusive workforce and saves between 3-5 pounds of clothing and fabric scraps from going to landfills.

This translates to creative employment & less waste.
